About Dr. Magnuson
Dr. Magnuson is a highly respected, board-certified radiation oncologist who has spent his career providing the highest level of cancer care to his patients. He looks forward to providing clinical insights to the other board members as the sole oncologist on the board of the Aurora Integrated Oncology Foundation. His vision for the foundation is to decrease the financial impact of a cancer diagnosis on his patients and give generously to various charities throughout the state, while ensuring the clinics continue to offer the most advanced technology in radiation oncology on the market.
Dr. Magnuson was born and raised in the Anchorage area. He attended the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in biological science. Dr. Magnuson then attended the Saint Louis University School of Medicine before completing his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Wisconsin. He later completed a fellowship in stereotactic radiosurgery at Yale University. During his academic career, he published numerous peer-reviewed research articles on topics such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, gastrointestinal malignancies, stereotactic body radiotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Magnuson enjoys hiking, mountain biking, cross-country and downhill skiing, camping and spending time with his wife and two young children.
