Shirlie, our fantastic Oncology Social Worker, was chosen for her extraordinary dedication, positivity, and kindness that resonates across our four locations. Raised in Alaska, with a passion for community involvement stemming from her childhood in Kodiak, she embodies the spirit of giving back.
With a rich background as a Girl Scout, achieving the prestigious Gold Award which is equivalent to Eagle Scouts for the boys, Shirlie’s transition into social work was a natural one. Her role at the foundation focuses on ensuring our patients are supported beyond their medical treatments. Whether it’s helping with transportation, financial advice, or providing emotional support, Shirlie is there to guide our patients through life-altering journeys.
A memorable moment Shirlie shared involved aiding a patient from Juneau who, facing the heartbreaking loss of his dog and car troubles, found comfort in Shirlie’s support.

Outside of work, Shirlie enjoys spending time with her partner and stepchild, working on home improvements, and playing with her dog and cat. With a resilient family history facing cancer, her work is deeply personal and fulfilling.
