The work
In towns this size, you are the radiation therapy department.
There is no anonymous third shift here. Our centers are the radiation oncology option for the communities they sit in — the alternative for most patients is a flight and a hotel room in another city, away from their family, for six straight weeks of treatment.
That changes the job. You know the person on the table. You know their daily setup, their skin reaction, the week they started to turn a corner, and the name of the dog they keep talking about. You run the sim, you image, you treat, and you see the whole arc — consult to last fraction to the bell.

The team
A team small enough that everyone knows your coffee order.
Our centers are small on purpose. That means there’s no layer of management between you and a decision, and no version of a hard day where you’re handling it alone. It also means when you need to move a shift — a sick kid, a ferry schedule, a parent visiting from out of state — you ask a person, not a portal.
We’re out in the community too: school programs, food banks, Meals on Wheels, screening events, and the occasional deeply competitive Halloween costume contest. The people we treat are the people we run into at the trailhead, which is exactly why the standard of care stays where it is.

Juneau
Southeast Radiation Oncology Center
A capital city with no road in or out — you arrive by plane or ferry, and the Tongass starts where the parking lot ends. Mendenhall Glacier is a 20-minute drive, humpbacks feed in the channel all summer, and Eaglecrest is your local hill. Small-town rhythm, rainforest green, water everywhere.
Anchorage
Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center
The city that lets you keep everything. Direct flights, real restaurants and a Costco — with the Chugach rising straight out of the east side, miles of urban trail, moose in the yard, and Alyeska’s lifts about 40 minutes down Turnagain Arm. Kings run up Ship Creek downtown in June.
Palmer · Mat-Su Valley
Mat-Su Radiation Oncology Center
Farm country under Pioneer Peak, about 45 minutes from Anchorage and the fastest-growing corner of the state. Hatcher Pass for hiking and backcountry skiing, the Matanuska Glacier up the highway, silvers in the Little Su, and the state fair every August. More land for your money than anywhere else on this list.
Soldotna
Peninsula Radiation Oncology Center
The Kenai River runs through town, which is the whole pitch. Sockeye in July, kings and silvers either side of it, dipnetting at the mouth, and halibut out of Homer or Seward within a couple of hours. Quieter, cheaper, and built around getting outside.
Life up here
