Chandler Roberts, Radiation Therapist & CT Technologist ARRT RT(T)(CT)-AROC
For Chandler, a career in medicine seemed like a natural fit from an early age. She was fascinated by medical imaging and wanted a career that combined science with hands-on patient care. Medical school was initially on her radar, but the prospect of significant student debt led her to explore another path. Radiology offered the combination she was looking for: technology, science, patient interaction, and a field where there is always something new to learn.
Chandler has been part of the AIOF family for two years, beginning her career at PROC in Soldotna before joining the team at AROC. Starting at PROC provided an ideal transition from school to professional practice. The smaller patient volume and slower pace allowed her to build confidence, develop her skills, and become comfortable in her new career.
Moving to AROC brought a very different experience. With approximately three times the patient volume, Chandler embraced the faster pace and variety. She enjoys meeting more patients, continuing to build her skills, and working with AROC’s integrative team. She recently added another accomplishment to her professional journey by earning her CT credentials.
One of the aspects Chandler enjoys most is the oncology side of patient care. Because many patients return over an extended period, she has the opportunity to build genuine relationships and get to know the person behind the appointment. She asks about families, vacations, hobbies, and the everyday things that matter to her patients.
Developing those quick connections wasn’t always easy. Over time, Chandler learned to lean into her naturally friendly and welcoming personality, turning those brief interactions into meaningful relationships. Making patients feel comfortable and seen has become one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
Throughout her two years with AIOF, Chandler has experienced countless memorable moments with patients. At PROC, an older gentleman reminded her strongly of her grandfather, who had recently passed away. Their resemblance, even down to their handwriting, created an immediate connection. The patient eventually told Chandler she could be his granddaughter, creating a sweet memory she continues to cherish.
Another meaningful experience came at AROC. After a patient passed away, the daughters returned to the clinic with a gift basket to express their appreciation for Chandler’s care and kindness. The gesture was a powerful reminder that the impact we make on patients and their families is often greater than we realize.
Outside of work, Chandler enjoys walking and hiking with her two dogs and her fiancé, James. In the summer, they love fishing, while winter has turned them into avid hockey fans. You can often find them cheering on the Wolverines at home games.
Chandler and James are also entering an exciting new chapter. They are getting married this weekend and are expecting a baby girl in February. Chandler is also a stepmom, making their growing family a happy and busy one.
While attending school in Arkansas, Chandler dreamed of moving to Alaska for the cold, wildlife, and snow. Today, she loves Alaska’s winters and often feels like she’s living in a postcard.
Two years into her AIOF journey, Chandler has grown from a new graduate finding her footing into a confident imaging professional whose career is defined by continual learning, meaningful patient connections, and a genuine love for the work she does.
