Meet a ray of sunshine: Robert Parker!

Robert Parker, RT(T) Locum Radiation Therapist (AROC, MROC, PROC, SROC)

Our featured Sunbeam is no other than, Robert Parker, our locum Radiation Therapist for all the AIOF clinics in Alaska. Robert has spent his career focused on one goal: providing exceptional cancer care.

Excellent patient care is a journey and not a destination.” That philosophy has guided Robert’s career since discovering his passion for radiation therapy while training as an X-ray student and completing a rotation in Radiation Oncology.

While technology has transformed cancer treatment over the years, the most rewarding part of the job remains the same: building relationships with patients through daily interactions and supporting them throughout their treatment journey.

When asked what makes our cancer centers special, the answer was simple: The staff at each of our facilities is what makes our centers special.

Outside of work, family comes first. Robert adores his wife, Molly, and their children. Just last year his youngest, Chloe, received an AIOF scholarship to follow in her father’s footsteps and passion for Oncology. Robert loves a project and it seems he always has something new he is working on. In his featured photos are his prize rebuild of his 1973 Scout.

Robert strives to bring a little humor to each day (watch out for a dad joke!), both for colleagues and patients. One memorable patient story involved a granddaughter who saw her grandmother’s treatment setup marks and jokingly told her to tell the staff not to give up because they were “bound to get better at drawing.”

Robert’s compassion, positivity, dependability, and commitment to continuous improvement make him an invaluable member of our team and a trusted part of our patients’ cancer care journeys.
